As a Math teacher, there is no need for anyone to question your problem solving and analytical skills. But,all kinds of problems might arise when you are trying to put your abilities on paper- that is, when creating your Math teacher resume.

Let’s start from ZERO

Before writing a job winning Math teacher resume, let’s go through the responsibilities of a Math teacher. Usually, the job description in the vacancy gives a clear idea about the role you have to play.

Anyway, why not look at some obvious responsibilities as well?

Instructing students about arithmetic and problem solving.

    Preparing lesson plans.

    Giving homework and grading them.

    Preparing test papers for evaluation.

    Communicating with parents.

Contributing to school events such as Math quiz programs.

Now that you have an idea about the role of a Math teacher, let’s kickstart resume writing!

Steps to write a good Math teacher resume

Math teachers love working with numbers, solving complex equations and many more. What matters the most here is the timing.

Remember the last time you solved a time problem? You have a maximum of 7 seconds to impress the school principal or hiring manager with your resume.

From hundreds of resumes in the principal’s office, you have to score 100%.

With that being said, let’s look at some tips and tricks to write an outstanding Math Teacher resume.

01. Select the best format for your Math Teacher resume

Just like using BODMAS to solve math problems, there needs to be a proper order to structure your Math teacher resume. That’s where these formatting rules come into play:

  • Identify the important sections in your Math teacher resume.
  • Use the correct color combination: Go for black, white and shades of blue and green.
  • Pay attention to font type. For example, you might want to reconsider whether you will go with common fonts like Arial and Times New Roman! Use some other good resume fonts like Verdana, Gill Sans or Cambria.
  • Font size matters! Do not use fonts larger than 14pt for headings. Use a maximum 12pt for body content.
  • Instead of using larger fonts to highlight important facts, Bold and italic might come in handy.
  • Save your Math Teacher resume as a PDF, which is more professional than a Word file.

02. Add an impressive header to your Math teacher resume

A successful Math Teacher resume is like a fraction. The top half captures the reader’s eye first! That’s why you should write an excellent header to introduce yourself.

As in the above example header, add your name at the top along with your current job position and location. Adding contact details will make it easy for the school principal/recruiter to get in touch with you.

If you are a newbie, go ahead and add your latest educational qualification and the institute you obtained it from.

03. Write a strong professional profile with numbers

Right after the header, this is where you need to summarize your skill set, experience, your passion for teaching Math and future vision. Why not use some numbers to show how cool your Math is?

Math educator for high school and middle school with 5+ years of experience in teaching classrooms of at least 30 students. Ability to teach in an interactive manner to improve the logical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills of students. Mentored and helped over 400 kids in their pursuit of a college education.

Fact: The professional profile is sometimes known as the objective statement. But, that is outdated. Instead you can also go with a profile summary.

If you do not have any previous experience, you can include events organized and any volunteering that was done during college life.

04. Highlight your skill set in your Math teacher resume

Being a Math teacher has a lot more than solving equations! You need to have knowledge of the curriculum, ability to evaluate students’ skills and even knowledge in Information Technology.

Imagine you landed that dream job and you walked into your first Math class. Starting the lesson right away wouldn’t do. You need to introduce yourself and build a positive impression for the students.

Understanding knowledge levels, interactive activities, and in-class quizzes are an excellent way to build up positive relationships with students. So, always remember, soft skills equally matter.

What if this is your first Math teacher job application? Then you can focus on any programs you have volunteered for. Even internships can be added.

Better to categorize experience based on skills rather than going for reverse chronological order.
